Expected frequency
Predict how many times something should happen in many tries.
- Expected frequency = P(E) × number of trials
What the letters mean
- P(E)
- the probability of the event
- trials
- how many times the experiment is done
Worked example
A fair die is thrown 120 times. How many sixes would you expect?
Step 1: Multiply
16 × 120 = 20
Final answer: 20
