Tactics for objective (multiple-choice) questions
Eliminate wrong options, estimate, and never leave a question blank unless the rules say wrong answers lose marks.
Eliminate
Cross out options that are clearly wrong. Even if you're unsure, choosing from two options is much better than choosing from four.
Work backwards
Sometimes it's quicker to test the options. For 'solve 3x − 7 = 8', try each option: x = 5 gives 3 × 5 − 7 = 8 ✓.
Don't leave blanks (check the rules first)
Read the instructions on your paper. If wrong answers don't lose marks, a sensible guess can only help you, so never leave a question blank.
Shade the answer sheet carefully and check that the question numbers match.
