Test yourself instead of re-reading
Pulling an answer out of your memory makes it stick far better than reading notes again.
Re-reading feels good but doesn't work well
Reading your notes again makes them feel familiar, so you think you know them. But recognising something is not the same as remembering it in an exam.
Testing yourself (trying to answer before you look) is one of the most effective ways to learn. It's called retrieval practice.
Easy ways to test yourself
Close your book and write down everything you remember about a topic. Answer practice questions before checking the solutions. Cover a formula and write it from memory.
